A course for students new to the Mysore method of practice. We will begin with a workshop on Sunday, February 2 from 4-6pm to learn the subtle body technique that forms the basis of the ashtanga method (breath-bandha-drishti), and a short talk on the conceptual basis of ashtanga. All classes are taught by Authorized Level 2 ashtangi Rocket Caleshu.

We will practice together in the Mysore room every morning Monday-Friday at 7:30am. Through the course, we will begin our study of the primary series together, developing awareness of our subtle bodies, and increasing our mental concentration and physical strength and flexibility.

In the Mysore room, students of all abilities and experiences across all stages of life practice side by side. We will begin by learning the surya namaskars (sun salutations). Once we are established in the fundamentals of the subtle body technique and the surya namaskars, we will learn the postures one at a time, memorizing them as we go. There is absolutely nothing you need to know about yoga in order to begin.

This course is designed both for new practitioners who are interested in beginning a steady, traditional ashtanga yoga practice, and for experienced practitioners who want to return to the essential philosophical and technical elements of their practice. If you aren't sure if you want to start or continue a steady yoga practice, but have a spark of curiosity and want to perhaps find out, perfect! All are welcome.

All classes are taught by founder and director Rocket Caleshu and take place at Ashtanga Yoga Glassell.

If the fee is a hindrance, please reach out. All serious students are welcome.
